DeKalb County Launches Entertainment Commission to Grow Georgia Film Industry

DeKalb County took a significant step toward strengthening its position in Georgia's booming film and entertainment industry in October 2017 with the launch of the DeKalb Entertainment Commission. The commission's mission: to grow the county's film, television, music, and digital entertainment industries by making connections, building collaboration, and creating the infrastructure that attracts productions and the businesses that support them.

"The new DeKalb Entertainment Commission will be about making connections, building collaboration and creating amazing content," said commission chairman Andrew Greenberg at the launch. "It will be the economic engine that drives growth for our county across the entertainment industry, encouraging companies to locate here while creating jobs and spurring construction, development and overall industry growth."

The commission launched with an entertainment expo featuring panels, workshops, and resources for producers, aspiring filmmakers, and artists. It also introduced a new website — DeKalbEntertainment.com — designed to streamline permitting and location scouting for productions considering DeKalb County.

At the time of the launch, DeKalb County's entertainment industry was already generating significant economic activity: $9.5 billion in film and television, $3.7 billion in music, and nearly $2 billion in digital entertainment statewide. The commission was positioned to accelerate that growth by making DeKalb County an even more attractive destination for productions of all sizes.
